ASSIST
Automated Systems Security Incident Support Team

The Department of Energy Headquarters' Automated Systems Security Incident Support Team, known as the ASSIST, was formed in 1992 to provide education and protection to the Headquarters user community in the containment of computer viruses.

The ASSIST developed and maintains the Headquarters Virus Protection Program, trains and manages the Virus Response Team (ViRT), and provides user, management, and support education, as well as guidance and assistance to various DOE entities concerning virus issues.
