Awards

The Information Management Conference Awards give well-deserved recognition for outstanding individual and group performance in the areas of Executive Leadership, Technical Excellence, Management/Administrative Excellence, and for Students or Interns that have excelled during their stay at DOE. The awards provide an opportunity to acknowledge significant contributions to the Departmental Information Management goals and strategic plans.

Dates of Importance:

  • January 2008 – INFORM - Awards categories and submission guidelines available via the conference website.
  • January 2008 – February 8, 2008 – NOMINATE – Awards submissions accepted ONLY via the conference website.  All awards nominations must be submitted to the conference committee by 11:59 pm EST on February 8, 2008.
  • February 2008 – NOTIFY – Award winners will be notified.  Travel expenses will NOT be paid for by the Information Management Conference Committee.
  • March 18, 2008 – RECEIVE – The Award winners will receive there award during the Town Hall session.
    Please take this opportunity to recognize and reward outstanding Information Management efforts by nominating those DOE Federal organizations, teams/groups, and individuals who have made significant contributions to the Department's Information Management and Technology programs during Fiscal Year 2007. The Information Management Conference Committee and the DOE Office of the Chief Information Officer look forward to receiving your nominations.

Categories and Nominating Criteria

Executive Leadership (one or more of the following)

Eligibility:   
A. Individual nomination - Federal Staff only   
B. Team/Group nomination - Federal and Contractor Staff

  • Sustained contribution over a period of years in a senior management or leadership role to implement the IM programs, resulting in significant improvements in Departmental Information Management initiatives
  • Sustained contributions to meeting the IM goals and objectives for the Department

Technical Excellence (one or more of the following)
Eligibility:    Federal and Contractor Staff

  • Innovative uses of information management in accomplishing the organization's mission
  • Noteworthy application of technical skills in conceiving, designing, developing, or operating an information technology initiative
  • Noteworthy application of major information management initiatives to support accessibility in varied environments for individuals with disabilities
  • Specific accomplishments resulting in significant cost savings to the Federal Government through use of information management and technology
  • Specific accomplishments resulting in the reduction of duplicative/redundant information systems, including data sharing internally or with other agencies, organizations or with the public

Management/Administrative Excellence (one or more of the following)

Eligibility:     
A. Individual nomination - Federal Staff only    
B. Team/Group nomination - Federal and Contractor Staff

  • Noteworthy accomplishments in support of major information management initiatives (e.g., business process re-engineering, acquisition, policy, training, performance measurement, or accessibility for individuals with disabilities)
  • Noteworthy accomplishments resulting in improved delivery of Government services to the public using information technology
  • Specific accomplishments resulting in significant cost savings to the Federal Government through creative and innovative management of information management programs
  • Specific accomplishments in managing information management programs resulting in reduction of duplicative/redundant information systems

Student/Intern Excellence Award (Calendar Year 2007)

  • Significant and measured achievements in designing, developing, or initiating an information management project under the supervision of a project manager or supervisor resulting in cost savings for DOE            

Evaluation Criteria

An Information Management Awards Subcommittee comprising DOE Headquarters and Field IT Personnel will review and evaluate award nominees according to the following nomination criteria:

  • Demonstrated benefit to Information Management and Departmental strategic plans
  • Impact on the organization
  • Improvements to productivity, operations, or management
  • Demonstrated originality or creativity
  • Long-range impact
  • Demonstrated cost savings for DOE

Nominating Procedures

Due Date for Nominations has been extended to February 8, 2008!

  • Nominations will ONLY be accepted via the conference website. 
  • Nominations should be submitted for a specific category using the 2008 IMC Awards Nomination Form
  • The IMC Awards Subcommittee will review all nominations and provide award recommendations to the Chief Information Officer.
